Meeting of the President of the Assembly with leaders from Presheva valley

Current policy processes in the Region, democratization of these processes and the issue of student™s registration, always present, especially in the beginning of new academic year were the main topics of discussion in the meeting of the President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Nexhat Daci with Mayors of Presheva and Bujanovc Municipalities, respectively with Mr. Riza Halimi and Mr. Nagip Arifi.

The efforts of interlocutors were oriented in finding possibilities for an involvement as more extensive as possible of high school graduate students from Presheva Valley in the University of Prishtina, possibly determining a quota as more adequate as possible for freshmen from this Region who has no university in Albanian language. Parallel to this, academic Nexhat Daci emphasized that they are doing big efforts on providing as much room as possible for students from Presheva Valley. Students from this side but as well as those from Macedonia and Montenegro have always preoccupied the relative structures of UP. For this reason, said the President of the Assembly I have spoken with the Prime Minister that together with Minister of education to find a better solution.

He continued on stating that he supports the democratization and decentralization processes in the Presheva Valley and in the whole Region. Regarding the request for media on Banja e Siarinës becoming municipality, Daci stated that we will support this request of Albanian population, because it is a condition for return of displaced, as we support the decentralization process in Kosovo. We support all democratic processes as well as the request on opening an Albanian University in Presheva Valley. We do not encourage these processes but we do support them, emphasized Daci.

What we have given to Serbian minorities in Kosovo, the Albanian population has the right for the same no matter where they live, should enjoy that democratic right. Leaders from Presheva Valley emphasized that cultural bandage of this side are very natural with Kosovo, and they support democratic solutions in realizing the collective rights.
